Poetry

Life is so difficult at times, and we often feel as though we cannot escape its pressures. But if you remember what made you happy, you can find comfort in the things that brought you joy….

Your child’s first steps, holding hands with your Dad,
A comforting touch, when times were so sad.

A walk on a beach with the sunset in sight,
A lover’s first kiss, while holding you tight.

To dance in a room where no one can spy,
And sleep for a day while the rain pours outside.

The scent of a flower on a warm April day,
and Sundays at church when the family would pray.

Cold Christmas mornings when you awoke with a smile,
And dinner with friends helped you laugh for a while.

To buy your first ring for the one that you love,
And taste snow on your tongue as it fell from above.

The first time you heard the beat of a heart,
the nervous excitement that a life would soon start.

The closing of school on a stormy weekday,
and calling your friends to meet and to play.

Taking your time to view pictures of kids,
Opening pudding and licking the lids.

To sit by a fire and get lost in a book,
in the kitchen with mom when you learned how to cook.

An unplanned escape to a warm destination,
An ice cream cone and a summer vacation.

Life is to short, these moments are few,
Think of these moments, when life makes you blue.
Remember those times and never forget that happiness arrives when you never expect.

I think that this illness has become an epidemic of outragous proportions that now needs government involvement....too many kids are being diagnosed these days.
Is it the vaccines....doctors need to start supplying patients with vaccines without the dangerous chemical being blamed for this increase!(not sure what the name is)
Having a cousin myself who is now 40 years old, who was at the time a rarity with both cerebral paulsey and autism, with he himself realizing he was "different" then his cousins was heartbreaking.
Maybe what this disease needs is a movie star, or politician's kid to get this in order to bring it more to the for front.
Don Imus got slack from the drug companies because of his campaign on Autism and thank God he didn't back down as his nagging brought attention to this disease to a lot of people.
